Sensitive Redevelopment in a Rural Setting
Grove Lodge is an exclusive residential development located in the peaceful woodland setting of Chandlers Cross, Hertfordshire. The project demonstrates how carefully considered design can enhance a previously developed site while preserving its natural landscape and rural character.
The proposal replaces existing redundant residential and equestrian buildings with four individually designed detached family homes. The homes have been carefully positioned to minimise visual impact, respect neighbouring properties and retain the site's mature trees and ecological value.
Inspired by the character of traditional rural farmsteads, the architecture combines warm multi-stock brickwork with contemporary timber cladding and high-quality materials to create homes that sit comfortably within their woodland surroundings.
Environmental sustainability is central to the design, with energy-efficient construction, sustainable drainage systems, biodiversity enhancements and significant new landscaping forming an integral part of the development. The scheme also delivers a measurable biodiversity net gain while protecting existing habitats and ancient woodland.
